How to use the WARDOG mortar & artillery calculator
Set a gun and target on a WARDOGS map to calculate horizontal range, bearing, and a sight elevation from community-measured firing tables. This guide explains the controls and what the result can—and cannot—tell you.

Calculate a firing solution
-
Choose a map and weapon
Select Bakurani, Ozeti, or Zestafona, then choose the L81 Mortar or SPH-2 weapon profile from the calculator header.
-
Set the gun position
Enter the friendly gun's game X and Y coordinates, or press Set Current Position and click the map. You can drag the cyan marker afterward.
-
Mark the target
Enter the target's coordinates, or press Mark Target and click the map. Drag the red marker to refine its location. The solution updates when both positions are set.
-
Read the result
The solution panel shows distance, azimuth or bearing, and sight elevation. For SPH-2, check the selected high or low trajectory. If the target is outside the selected firing table, the panel reports that no table solution is available.
02 / Readouts
Understand the numbers
Game X increases eastward and Y increases northward. One coordinate unit represents 100 metres. Use positions from the same selected map.
Distance
Horizontal separation between the gun and target, displayed in metres.
Bearing
Direction from the gun to the target, measured clockwise from north. The calculator can display compass degrees or bearing MIL according to your settings.
Sight elevation
An interpolated sight setting from the selected weapon's community firing table. Sight MIL is different from bearing MIL.

Firing-table range limits
The app shows a table solution only within the range of its archived measurements.
| Weapon | Table range | Available arcs |
|---|---|---|
| L81 Mortar | 132–684 m | High only |
| SPH-2 | 780–2,629 m | High; low from 1,181 m |
Use a ranging shot
The tables describe level-ground shots. The calculator does not correct for terrain height or estimate flight time or propellant charges. Confirm the setting in game with a ranging shot. The values come from archived community firing tables, not official weapon specifications.
